Awful Records

Awful Records is an influential Atlanta-based independent record label and creative collective. Founded in 2011 by rapper and producer ⁠Father, the label became a pioneering DIY force in underground internet rap, known for its minimalist, lo-fi, and left-field experimental sound.

Over the years, Awful Records has launched or supported several prominent and boundary-pushing acts from modern hip-hop and alternative R&B to electronic dance and indie pop.

In its early years the collective operated heavily out of communal houses in Atlanta, functioning as a tight-knit family and self-sustaining ecosystem. Their style rejected traditional industry standards in favor of DIY production, raw punk-rap attitudes, internet sleaze aesthetics, and a distinct blend of humor and dark atmospheres.
